The U.S. FDA has approved a new drug application

The U.S. FDA has approved a new drug application submitted by the Ross Products Division of Abbott Laboratories for Omacor (omega 3 acid ethyl esters) capsules as an adjunct to the diet to reduce triglyceride levels in adult patients with triglyceride levels >500 mg/dL. The product description notes that it is a combination of ethyl esters of eicosapentanoic acid (EPA-approximately 465 mg) and docosahexanoic acid (DHA-approximately 375 mg).
